Pick 6 Sports is a once a week program that allows parents the convenience to have practice and games on the same day.  We know many of the kids play multiple sports.  If a team want to get together in their neighborhood to practice that is up to the parents and coaches to set up that practice and schedule.    

A few things to keep in mind if you set up a practice:
  1. Mid week practice are optional and should be communicated to parents in that manner.
  2. The practice should have no impact on a child's playing time or position.  For example a child should not sit out the first 10 minutes due to missing an optional practice
  3. These practices work best when you have a team of kids who are all from the same neighborhood or play different sports together.  Practices outside of the normal Pick 6 day do not typically work for teams where you have kids from a wide variety of areas.  
  4. Make it fun and ensure kids are learning the fundamentals
Alternative to Mid Week Practice - Some other suggestions if you are wanting to get in some additional practice times

  • Set up a Practice after the Fundamental Camp / Jersey Handout.  This is a great time to start working on some plays as you just got to see all of your kids go thru the fundamentals camp.  This gives you an extra practice prior to your first game and all the kids are already there at the field. 
  • Have your kids come a 15 to 20 minutes early to your first practice.  Again this can be helpful in the first few weeks as you are getting to know the team and want to work on some additional plays.  
  • Print out a play sheet or 3 to 5 plays for your kids to take home and study so they will understand the plays you want to work on ahead of time.
  • Give your players an assignment to work on snapping, passing, or catching the ball for 30 minutes during the week with a sibling or parent.
